Advertising Disclosure
Last updated October 8, 2026
HousingPortal.ca is free to read. It is paid for in two ways: display advertising and affiliate links. This page explains both, and what they do and do not change about the figures you read here.
Display ads
We show ads through Google AdSense. They are labelled as advertisements, Google chooses them, and advertisers have no say in our reports, guides or tools. How advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalised ads, is in our privacy policy.
Affiliate links
Some pages carry a card marked “Partner offer” that links to a company we have an agreement with, such as a mortgage comparison site or an insurer. If you follow one of those links and go on to apply, get a quote or buy a policy, that company may pay us a referral fee. The link costs you nothing, and the rate or price you get is the same as if you had gone to the company directly.
Each card says, above the button, who the partner is and that we may be paid. We tell you before you click, not after.
Our partners at the moment:
- Ratehub.ca, a mortgage brokerage and comparison site (not in Quebec).
What we are not
HousingPortal.ca is not a mortgage brokerage, a lender, an insurer or a real estate brokerage, and nobody here is licensed as one. We do not take applications, quote rates, compare products for you or see any information you give a partner. A partner link only passes you to the partner's own site; everything after that is between you and them, under their terms and privacy policy.
The mortgage rates we publish ourselves, on the mortgage rates page and in the cost-to-buy tables, are the Bank of Canada's averages of what banks actually charged. They are statistics, not offers, and no partner supplies or influences them.
What does not change
- The market reports are compiled from the real estate boards' published statistics, checked against the boards' own totals. No advertiser or partner sees them before you do or can change a figure.
- The guides and tools say what we think is true. Where a partner appears on a page, it is because its product fits the page, not the other way round.
- Nothing on this site is financial, legal or investment advice. Before you borrow, insure or buy, get advice from someone licensed to give it.
